ImageCaster: Instant Webcam Site
Econ Technologies ImageCaster makes setting up a webcam site
easier and faster than ever before. All you need is an iSight, a webserver, and
$30.
I was curious to try this little application
because I’ve always been fascinated by live webcam sites. However, I was
completely surprised and amazed by how easy ImageCaster makes this process. I
downloaded the application, launched it, and within one minute, I had a
professional looking, live updating, functional webcam
page.
ImageCaster has an intuitive interface and immediately detects your iSight. It is also written in Universal Binary so it will run native on both Intel and PPC Macs. When you launch this application, you’ll notice the tabs to make setup really easy. The various tabs are used to setup the source (iSight, USB webcam, etc.), overlay (date, time, logo, etc.), format (image or movie), web page (style, text, color, etc.), schedule (days, times, updating), destination (ftp/sftp server or local), and even to monitor the current image. Simply cycle through the tabs, fill out all the fields, design your page, and ImageCaster is ready to upload your webcam site.
The application even includes a page designer where you can customize the look of your page and change the look between several pre-built templates, or even create your own. You can also use the designer create a gallery page where it holds the last several snapshots. Best of all you can immediately upload your page to the Internet, specify the update interval, and easily toggle between online and offline.
This is literally the fastest way I have ever seen to setup a webcam site. ImageCaster is very easy to use, but full of powerful and useful features. If you’re a webcam junkie, you need to own this app! It’s the best $30 you'll spend.
