Holy 8 Cores!!!
The first new Mac of 2007 was finally released
today... the 8-core Mac Pro is now shipping!
After all the predictions for NAB and WWDC...
Apple just
threw us all a curve ball by quietly releasing the new 8 core Mac Pros and
dropping the prices on their Cinema Displays. After all the complaining and
waiting... the first new Mac of 2007 is now shipping!!! However, at a price of
$4000+, there won't be too many average Mac users that will get their hands on
one, outside of the Apple store. Still, this is good news for Mac fans who have
been waiting patiently for new Macs since MWSF 2007. The new release was simply
a "drop in" upgrade; the Mac Pro was not redesigned at all... it was simply
upgraded to use the new quad core Xeon chips from Intel. However, this
is the first Mac EVER to have more than 4 processing cores, and is a history
making machine for Apple. The AppleTV announcement earlier this month,
combined with this release, and the upcoming releases at NAB could prove April
to be a very impressive month for Apple. Hopefully the second quarter of 2007
will be more exciting than the first. With this release... they are well on
their way.
