New iMacs... Finally!
It's August of 2007 and finally we have our
first new Mac of the year.
The iMac line was upgraded today, introducing a new
form factor and new specs. The 17" model was dropped (as many rumors suspected),
and the 20" and 24" models received significant hardware upgrades. There are
currently four new "off the shelf"
configurations.
1. 20" LCD, 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo, 1 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD, and ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT graphics = $1199
2. 20" LCD, 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 1 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, and ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics = $1499
3. 24" LCD, 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 1 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, and ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics = $1799
4. 24" LCD, 2.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, and ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics = $2299
All models feature a new thinner look, a new keyboard design, and 8X dual layer SuperDrives. In addition to this announcement, Apple also upgraded iLife, iWork, and .Mac. It was a long wait, but now I can finally stop complaining about the lack of new Macs. Horray!
