2,000,000 Macs... No joke!
Apple released some astounding numbers
yesterday!
The 2 million Mac quarter has been rumored for
quite some time. Analysts were predicting that it could be the holiday quarter
of 2008. However, Apple shocked the industry when they revealed
their 4th fiscal quarter earnings. Apple showed a profit of $904,000,000 and
shipped almost 2,200,000 Macs! This supersedes their previous record set last
quarter. Here's the clincher... this was a non-holiday quarter and they haven't
even released Leopard yet! Apple attributes a lot of their record profit to the
iPhone,
but Mac sales that high can not be ignored. Apple is invading the personal
computing space and finally showing some serious competition for Microsoft. The
days of saying Apple is a niche market are
over.
With the holiday quarter upon us, and the release of Leopard eminent, Apple is posed for an astounding 1st fiscal quarter. The rumors are now circulating about a 2.5 million Mac quarter. Steve Jobs is probably already planning his keynote speech for MWSF 08... "In just one year we have gone from 1.5 million Macs to 2.5 million Macs. This is unheard of in the industry." I can hear it now. :-)
